THE MOST DESIRABLE

The Most Desirable

Ferrari 250 GTO 4153GT
Staging and Photography at Schloss Bensberg Concours, 2012

The most sought-after Ferrari is the 4153 GT from 1963, one of 39 built between 1962 and 1964. Long the most expensive car in the world, I had the good fortune and honor of photographing this beauty in the castle’s underground car park during the Concours d’Elégance at Bensberg Castle in 2012, when it still wore yellow stripes.
He became famous on June 15/16, 1963, when he finished fourth overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Pierre Dumay/“Elde”. His most famous success, however, is his victory in the 1964 Tour de France, when Lucien Bianchi and Georges Berger led him to victory. In 2015 at the Concours Chantilly Arts & Elégance Richard Mille, it presented itself with the French national colors as stripes across the car. The most coveted Ferrari of all time is the Ferrari 250 GTO, this iconic model is considered a masterpiece of automotive design and engineering. The 3.0-liter V12 engine with over 300 hp enabled a top speed of over 280 km/h – exceptional for the time. At 70 million US dollars, the 250 GTO held the record for the most expensive car ever sold until 2018. The elegant and aerodynamic design of the 250 GTO was created by Sergio Scaglietti and is considered one of the most beautiful car designs in history. Through its combination of rarity, motorsport success, impressive engineering and breathtaking design, the Ferrari 250 GTO has become the most coveted Ferrari and one of the most valuable and legendary cars in the world.
